California Nebula
To the right is a link to an Ha exposure of the California Nebula,
taken for a display at Vanderbilt University relating to the great
visual observer E.E. Barnard. The image was acquired with a 6"
refractor, the same type and size telescope he used to discover it
in 1884 from Vanderbilt's main campus. The telescope he used
now resides at Vanderbilt's Dyer Observatory.  His view of the
nebula through the eyepiece more closely resembled the image
above (a short exposure taken through a blue filter).
