Comet P9/Tempel 1.  Left, pre impact on July 3, 2005, and right, post impact on July 4, 2005.  Both a single 5 minute 2x2 luminance image, with dark and flat subtraction as the only processing.  Weather didn't permit more images.
Left: Comet P9/Tempel 1, June 30, 2005, 10 eight minute luminance exposures, unguided, using the ME's variable tracking rate, binned 1x1, STL6303E, RCOS 16 @ f9.  Note change in comet position evidenced by star trails over the approximately 85 minutes of exposure time.  95% humidity during exposures.  Alignment and combination done in MIRA AP.
Comet P9/Tempel 1, June 4, 2005, 10 five minute luminance exposures, binned 1x1, STL6303E.  Note change in comet position (upper right) over the approximately 1 hour of exposure time.  Also note magnitude 11.3 galaxy  NGC 4910 (lower left) and magnitude 16.6 PGC  44474 a bit to the right and below of center.
